Y.S. River Falls, Jamaica

Near the stretch of the A2 called Bamboo Avenue is a lovely jewel. One private property lies the YS River Falls. Enchantingly beautiful and unpolluted, the falls are much less trafficked that Dunns River Falls. pic

Falling in a series of cascades and pools, the water flows moderately. It is cool and clear and great for just sitting and soaking. The brave can make like Tarzan and go swinging off a vine into one of the pools. Not into swimming? Go for the scenery. The humidity from the falls supports a broad variety of epiphytes and bromeliads. Ginger grows near the base. A large tree contains a tree house from which to survey the area.

After traveling down a long narrow road off the A2, you'll reach a small, colorful group of buildings. Here is where you'll purchase your ticket and take off on your tractor train ride to the falls. You'll travel through the pastures of YS estate and over the YS river. The ride in itself is a lot of fun. Definitely a picnic place. Kids would love it too.
